In many towns of the island, there are still water searchers, so this job is going to persist in the future.
Towns such as Sa Pobla, Santa Margalida or Maria de la Salut have some water searchers among their inhabitants. It is something that cannot be learnt or passed from generation to generation. Controlling the energies of the earth is a gift not available to everybody.
Through the study of the ground with a branch of a wild olive tree, a searcher will able to detect subterranean water streams. If the branch moves, there is water; if it moves a lot, there is still more water.
The elderly say that all the wells of the island have been found through this traditional job.
